Privacy

Bestow holds the most personal thing an app can hold: notes about other people. So it was built to have nothing to leak.

Data collected

None. Not analytics, not crash reports, not identifiers, not an email address. There is no account system and the app makes no network requests of any kind.

Your contacts

Bestow never reads your address book. Names are typed by hand. This is not a setting you can turn on — the Contacts framework is absent from the app, and the release build fails if it appears.

What is stored on the device

The people you added, the noticings you wrote, the occasions and your budget ranges. They are held in a file protected by the device passcode (completeFileProtection), which means the file is unreadable while the device is locked — including to anything else running on it.

If you turn on the optional lock, opening Bestow also asks for Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode.

Reminders

Reminders are scheduled locally by iOS. Their text is your own noticing. No reminder is sent through a server, because there is no server.

Purchases

The one-time purchase is handled by Apple through StoreKit and verified cryptographically on the device. Bestow receives no purchase data.

Backup

The backup is a file you create and place yourself. It never passes through us and it is never uploaded anywhere by the app.

Children

Bestow is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the change will appear here with a date. As long as the app has no network code, there is nothing that could be collected.
