Choose a reading from Everyday life, Out and about or Little stories on the home screen. The starting library has 6 Spanish readings, 24 words in context and 12 comprehension questions. Word meanings and questions are in English; the interface is available in six languages.
No. For a word check, write the meaning in English, reveal the supplied meaning and compare it with your answer. Any English wording is fine. You choose whether you remembered the meaning, need more practice or did not know it. Koine records that self-check; it does not grade free text, spelling or grammar and uses no AI grading service.
The multiple-choice comprehension questions work differently: Koine checks your selected choice against a fixed answer and shows an explanation.
Your place is saved as you move through a lesson. A word check is saved when you choose a result or tap Save and continue. Confirmed question answers and lesson completion are saved too. Open the same lesson again to continue from its saved position.
A word must have been checked in a reading before it can appear in review. Reviews become eligible after at least 24 hours and depend on elapsed time and your previous results. A correctly remembered word may not be due the next day. The home screen shows the words currently ready to check again.
The step does not advance until saving succeeds. Keep the lesson open and use the retry action shown in the app; your answer remains available to retry. Koine does not overwrite saved history with a partial or empty record. Do not uninstall the app or erase its data to retry a failed save.
Use the retry or reload action shown by Koine. The app keeps an unreadable or unsupported saved file rather than replacing it with an empty history. If the problem continues, contact support with the error message. There is no need to send your typed answers.
From the reading home screen, open Word coverage and sources. The proper-name setting is on that coverage screen. Counting names as recognisable is an assumption you control; Koine has not tested whether you recognise each name.
It estimates how much of the displayed Spanish corpus your word evidence covers. The range reflects uncertainty and changes as evidence ages or you check words again. It is not a reading level or a test of grammar, idioms or general comprehension. The view includes the corpus source and attribution.
Yes. The app is free and its readings, meanings and questions are included in the download. No account, advertising, analytics or app network connection is required.
Koine has no account or app-server sync service. It saves answers and progress in local app storage. iOS may include that data in system backups, depending on your Apple and device settings. See the privacy page for the data stored and how app deletion differs from backup management.
