A guide for families

A daily check-in for an elderly parent who lives alone

Many older people want to keep living on their own, and many families worry about the quiet hours between calls. A daily check-in is a small agreement in between: your parent sends one signal a day, and the family only hears more if that signal is missing.

Nestria makes that agreement one tap. Your parent taps I'm OK on iPhone or Apple Watch once a day. If the check-in has not arrived by the time they chose, the family members they invited get an alert. Nothing else is shared.

Get Nestria on the App Store

Free: the daily check-in and alerts are free for everyone. Optional Nestria Pro adds a weekly rhythm card and a printable care card.

Ways families check in — and what each is good for

How to set it up with your parent

  1. Agree together on a check-in time that fits their morning — after breakfast, after a walk.
  2. Install Nestria on your parent's iPhone (Apple Watch optional) and let them choose the time.
  3. Your parent invites you with an iCloud share; connections work both ways, so you can check in too.
  4. Decide what happens if an alert comes: who calls first, and who can visit.

What Nestria does not do

Nestria shares only whether today's check-in happened. It does not use location, messages, health data, the camera or the microphone. It does not detect falls and it is not an emergency service: in immediate danger, call your local emergency number. Data syncs through your family's own iCloud; Nestria has no accounts or servers of its own.
